Mexican man extradited to US in stabbing case

The federal attorney general's office says a 29-year-old fugitive has been extradited from Mexico to the United States to face charges of attempted murder in a 2006 stabbing.
Manuel Salvador Garcia-Ceja is accused of attacking his estranged girlfriend during an argument in a parking lot in Salem, Oregon. She survived the July 2006 attack, but was seriously injured.
The Mexican attorney general's office said Wednesday that Garcia-Ceja is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and assault.
He was arrested in June in Zamora in Michoacan state.
His brother, Lorenzo Garcia-Ceja, was also arrested and is suspected in the May 2009 shooting death of a 21-year-old man sitting on a park bench. His extradition status is unclear.
