Danny Jordaan: SAfrica colluded with WCup rivals

The man who led South Africa's unsuccessful bid for the 2006 World Cup says he tried to get England to withdraw from the race by offering Nelson Mandela's support for 2010.
Danny Jordaan says South Africa told England that "if you withdraw you will get Nelson Mandela to come to London, to praise you and say nice things about you and then in 2010 you will be stronger."
Brazil was persuaded to drop out just before the vote in 2000, but England stayed in the 2006 contest, which was won by Germany.
South Africa hosted the 2010 World Cup.
Jordaan spoke Wednesday as FIFA continued to investigate alleged collusion between rival bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Jordaan was on the team that inspected the bids.
