South Africa opener Hashim Amla scored an unbeaten 119 off 126 balls to lead his side to 228-9 against Pakistan in the third one-day international at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Amla was the only reason South Africa put a respectable score. The next highest was 26 from JP Duminy.
Pakistan gave a disciplined performance after winning the toss and electing to field.
Shoaib Akhtar took two early wickets and finished with 3-39, and spinners Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez provided key support in the middle overs and two wickets each.
Abdul Razzaq, the hero of second one-dayer, left the field injured after bowling five overs.
The five-game series is tied at 1.
