6 sentenced for 2008 killing of Croat journalist

The Zagreb district court has convicted six alleged members of a crime gang for the 2008 assassination of a well-known Croatian journalist.
The court sentenced the main suspect, Zeljko Milovanovic _ tried in absentia _ to 40 years in prison.
The court ruled on Wednesday that Milovanovic had planted the explosive under the car of Ivo Pukanic, editor-in-chief of a political weekly Nacional. The blast killed Pukanic and his aide.
Milovanovic is being tried in neighboring Serbia on the same charges alongside Sreten Jocic, a reputed mafia boss, who is accused of hiring the group to kill Pukanic to prevent him from further investigating the Balkan organized crime groups.
Former foes, Croatia and Serbia have cooperated on the case.
