Report: Kampusch kidnap case prosecutors probed

An Austrian newspaper is reporting that preliminary proceedings have been launched against five prosecutors who dealt with a notorious kidnapping case.
Natascha Kampusch was snatched off a Vienna street when she was 10 and held until she fled in August 2006. Her abductor, Wolfgang Priklopil, committed suicide within hours of her escape. Critics claim authorities did not handle the matter properly.
The Die Presse daily reports Wednesday that the proceedings by the Innsbruck public prosecutor's office focus on possible abuse of office and were sparked by allegations of negligence made by the former president of Austria's supreme court.
A spokesman for the Innsbruck public prosecutor's office could not immediately be reached for confirmation.
