The Danish navy says firefighters have finally boarded a ferry to finish extinguishing a blaze started by an accidental explosion on its upper deck.
The ship Lisco Gloria caught fire in the Baltic Sea Saturday, forcing the safe evacuation of the 236 people aboard.
Navy spokesman Kenneth Nielsen says that the temperature dropped sufficiently to allow the crew with breathing apparatus to board the ship on Monday.
The Lithuanian-flagged ferry was traveling from the German port of Kiel to Klaipeda, Lithuania. It is now anchored off the Danish island of Langeland.
The cause of the fire has not been determined yet. No one was injured and no oil spilled.
