India cricket board reinstates former chief

India's cricket board has withdrawn a corruption case against its former chief Jagmohan Dalmiya and lifted his four-year ban, reports the Press Trust of India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India accused Dalmiya, who heads the Cricket Association of Bengal, of misappropriating more than $700,000 during the 1996 World Cup in a case filed in the Bombay High Court four years ago.
A statement issued by the board after its annual general meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday said "the BCCI has withdrawn the suit it has filed against Jagmohan Dalmiya in the Bombay High Court and it has also withdrawn the expulsion that was imposed on him in 2006."
