Chavez-allied governor dies in Venezuela car crash

A state governor and close confidant of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has died after a vehicle he was riding in plunged into a river.
Willian Lara's body was found early Saturday in Uverito River in Guarico state, where he was governor.
State administrator Gustavo Mendez said the driver, who survived, lost control in a rainstorm Friday and the Toyota 4Runner fell in. He said the driver managed to help Lara out of the vehicle but he was lost in the rushing waters.
The 53-year-old was a leader of Chavez's party, a lawmaker and former president of the National Assembly. He was Chavez's information minister before being elected governor in 2008.
Chavez mourned his death on Twitter, calling him a "true revolutionary."
