Military: UK soldier dies from Afghanistan wound

The British military says a soldier has died in a hospital from a gunshot wound sustained more than two weeks ago in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Defense says the soldier from the 2nd Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, was hit by small arms fire in the Nahr-e Saraj area of southern Afghanistan on Aug. 23.
He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the English city of Birmingham where he succumbed to his injuries Friday. The military said Saturday that the man's family had been informed.
His death brings to 335 the number of British military losses since the conflict in Afghanistan began in 2001.
