French team goes to Rwanda for genocide inquiry

Two French judges and a bevy of experts will be spending a week in Rwanda to try to determine the conditions in which the 1994 missile attack on the plane carrying the president occurred.
The attack, which killed President Juvenal Habyarimana, is seen as the trigger for the genocide that left more than 500,000 people dead, most of them Tutsis. The French crew of the plane also perished, leading to France's investigation.
The 17-person team leaving Saturday also wants to determine from where the missiles were fired as a possible clue to who was behind the attack.
In 2006, a former French investigating judge accused current President Paul Kagame of ordering the assassination. The Rwandans have claimed French soldiers there had a role.
