Serbia opposition urging early elections

Serbia's biggest opposition party is urging early elections after the government gave up on its bid to challenge Kosovo independence at a U.N. General Assembly session.
Serbia has submitted a softened resolution for the assembly meeting under pressure from the EU, the bloc it hopes to join.
Nationalist Serbian Progressive Party says "Serbia has suffered another defeat" in its struggle regain Kosovo, which declared independence in 2008 with the backing of the U.S. and major EU powers.
Belgrade suffered another blow in July when the U.N.'s highest court ruled that Kosovo's move was legal.
Opposition leader Tomislav Nikolic says "the resolution is so sterile that anyone can vote for it." Nikolic adds that "the best solution are early elections."
