Taoyuan chief heads to Shanghai to solicit investment

Taipei, Sept. 10 (CNA) Taoyuan County Magistrate John C. Y. Wu headed for Shanghai Friday to solicit investment for his northern Taiwan county, particularly in its ambitious aerotropolis development project.
Traveling with more than 60 county councilors and township chiefs, Wu said he will brief prospective Chinese investors on promising business opportunities in the county's plan to develop the area around Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport -- Taiwan's main gateway -- into an aviation city.
"Chinese investors intending to invest in the project are expected to come up with an integrated investment plan rather than just applying to invest in a single property," Wu said.
While in Shanghai, Wu said he will also tour the Shanghai World Expo and look into facilities at the city's newly refurbished Hongqiao Airport.
The delegation will also visit Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province to learn from its experience in developing creative and cultural industries, Wu said.
