Trichet: phasing out crisis measures to take time

The European Central Bank's president says it may take a while yet to phase out special efforts to keep banks supplied with credit in the wake of the financial crisis.
The ECB said last week that the remaining measures will stay for the rest of the year.
Trichet told the Financial Times that as markets stabilize nonstandard measures "will continue to be progressively phased out."
He added in the interview posted Friday on the ECB's website: "it is a process which takes time." He didn't give a specific timeline.
Trichet also said he doesn't advocate expelling EU countries that repeatedly breach the rules governing the euro _ "but a temporary suspension of voting rights is something that should be explored."
