Gasnier scores winner in 2nd game back to NRL

Mark Gasnier, playing in his second game since returning from French rugby, scored the match-winner as the first-place St. George Illawarra Dragons beat South Sydney 16-13 in Australia's National Rugby League.
With the Dragons trailing 13-12, Gasnier sprinted more than 20 meters for his first NRL try in almost two years.
Gasnier played 141 NRL matches for St. George, nine State of Origin matches for New South Wales and 15 tests for Australia before quitting league in late 2008 to join French rugby club Stade Francais.
St. George Illawarra captain Ben Hornby said Gasnier was a work in progress.
"He's still way off where he can be, but he's going to get better every week," Hornby said. "So he's over the moon to get a try, that's for sure."
The second-place Penrith Panthers missed a chance to stay in touch with the Dragons, losing 34-28 to the Parramatta Eels. Jarryd Hayne scored one try and had a hand in four of his team's others as the Eels came back from a 22-0 deficit.
The loss dropped the Panthers four points behind the Dragons.
Anthony Watmough scored three, first-half tries as Manly ended a slump in form with a 48-18 win over Cronulla. Beaten in four of their last five games, the Sea Eagles took a 36-0 halftime lead, scoring seven tries before the break.
The Brisbane Broncos scored 14 unanswered points in the second half to beat the Gold Coast Titans 24-10. Winger Antonio Winterstein scored two tries for the Broncos, who trailed 10-6 at halftime.
The New Zealand Warriors won their fifth in a row, defeating the Melbourne Storm 13-6, sealing the win at Auckland on James Maloney's field goal with four minutes left.
Josh Dugan scored three tries and Jarrod Croker accounted for 16 points on goal kicks to give the Canberra Raiders a 52-18 win over the Newcastle Knights. A 75th-minute try by second rower Mitch Aubusson gave the Sydney Roosters a 36-32 win over the Bulldogs.
On Monday, the Wests Tigers play North Queensland to close out the 19th round.
