The 7th National Book Exchange Day Saturday made record high volume of books donated in Taichung County. Local libraries are now exhibiting renowned US author Mark Twin’s works to mark the one hundred anniversary of his death, the China Times reported Sunday.

Both Taichung City and County’s cultural chiefs expressed expectation to share knowledge and to make the best use of these books through the activity, the report said.

As this year marks the 19th anniversary of the book exchange campaign in Taichung City, this Taiwan’s central city has collected 23,000 donated by local residents, while Taichung County made record high number of book donation, totaling to more than 55,000.

Taichung County’s Dali Municipal Library gives out NT$50 book coupon for every thirty books donated to encourage the general public to join the campaign, the report said.

Among 23,000 books collected this year in Taichung City, children books account for thirty percent while literature works also take up a great portion. Exchange activities were launched simultaneously in five local libraries yesterday, seeing crowds looking for their favorite books.

Appreciation and analysis of Mark Twin’s works are now held in local libraries to give readers a chance to get a close glimpse on this literature master’s world, according to the report.
