South Africa's de Villiers banned for 2 weeks

South Africa winger Jean de Villiers has been suspended for two weeks for a dangerous tackle on his New Zealand opposite Rene Ranger during Saturday's Tri-Nations rugby test.
De Villiers appeared before judicial officer Dennis Wheelahan on Sunday after being cited over a lifting tackle in the 27th minute of the match, won 31-17 by New Zealand.
Wheelahan considered submissions from de Villiers and his representatives and watched video evidence before imposing the two-week ban which rules the winger out of next Saturday's test against Australia in Brisbane.
Wheelahan said he took into account de Villiers' exemplary disciplinary record which spanned 10 years and 60 tests.
