Blast kills 2 NATO troops in southern Afghanistan

The international force in Afghanistan says a roadside bomb has killed two NATO troops in the volatile south.
One of the service members killed Friday was American. The nationality of the other was not released. The NATO-led force did not give details of the explosion.
Roadside bombs planted by insurgents are one of the leading killers of both international troops and civilians in Afghanistan.
Last month was the deadliest of the nearly 9-year-old war for international troops, with 103 killed. So far in July, at least 49 international troops have died as coalition forces step up patrols and move into new areas of the Taliban-dominated south.
