Court says 'Yorkshire Ripper' must stay in jail

Britain's High Court has ruled that a convicted murderer known as the "Yorkshire Ripper" will remain in custody for the rest of his life.
Sixty-three-year-old Peter Sutcliffem, who killed 13 women in northern England during the late 1970s, asked the court to set a minimum term so he would be able to apply for parole.
In 1981, Sutcliffe received 20 life sentences for the killings and the attempted murders of seven women. A formal minimum term was not set at the time, but the judge recommended he serve at least 30 years.
Judge John Mitting said Friday that "apart from a terrorist outrage, it is difficult to conceive of circumstances in which one man could account for so many victims. Those circumstances alone make it appropriate to set a whole life term."
