Zagreb activists released, to protest again

About 140 activists detained while protesting against a construction project in downtown Zagreb have been released, but are banned from approaching the site.
The activists are now organizing a new protest before the seats of both the country's ruling party and the main opposition party, which governs Zagreb.
On Thursday, police detained activists as they tried to prevent work on a construction project to turn an old block into an upscale housing and shopping area.
Protesters claim the project will ruin a popular pedestrian area. They accuse a local businessman of illegally obtaining building permits.
The Green List, a protest organizer, said Friday that "democracy was humiliated _ brutally and ruthlessly" by the detentions.
