French Prime Minister Francois Fillon says Europe is united in tackling the fallout from Greece's debt crisis and will emerge stronger than ever.
Speaking to business leaders in Tokyo, Fillon sought to reassure investors that the European Union and its common currency are not in peril.
He says Greece's woes represent a "classic sovereign debt crisis" that does not reflect inherent weakness in the euro.
Fillon says Europe is focused on "strengthening its position as a hub of budgetary stability and growth" as it works to overcome its latest hurdle.
Fillon is on a two-day visit to Japan.
