Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Tropical Storm Conson will storm toward Vietnam and Laos on Saturday after making landfall in southern China, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms and waves as high as 18 feet (5.5 meters).
Typhoon Conson weakened into a tropical storm as it blew out of the Philippines on Thursday after killing at least 37 people. Conson packed winds of about 55 mph (85 kph) per hour as it tracked into the South China Sea.
Scattered showers will reach well inland to central China from Chengdu to Nanjing. Shanghai will see thunderstorms with highs in the mid-30s Celsius, while Beijing will see light showers in the upper 20s C.
To the east, a large area of low pressure will move over northeastern China, obtaining moisture from the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea along the way. A rainy day will result on the Korean peninsula and in northern Japan.
To the south, Tokyo will see sunny skies and highs near 32 C, while Seoul will be hit by thunderstorms with highs in the upper 20s C.
Hong Kong will see another stormy day with highs in the upper 20s C.
In Australia, mild weather will persist Saturday as high pressure dominates the country. Expect mostly sunny skies with warm conditions.
However, a mild front lingering over the southeast may bring coastal showers over Tasmania, Victoria, and New South Wales in the morning before pushing southeastward and offshore. Sydney and Melbourne will remain sunny with a high near 16 C.
