Officials: No football at Central American Games

There will be no football at this month's Central American and Caribbean Games.
In a report posted on Thursday on the games website, organizing committee members confirmed they could not hold the men's and women's matches after CONCACAF pulled out of the games.
Last week, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football withdrew all of its referees and support staff out of the games because of a lack of suitable facilities and poor pitch conditions.
The competition in Puerto Rico begins on Saturday in the western city of Mayaguez.
Tournament workers in Mayaguez referred calls to Hector Figueroa, director of the technical division. His phone number went unanswered on Thursday.
