All 10,000 crime victim visas issued

The U.S. government has run out of this year's supply of visas given to immigrants who are victims of crimes.
All 10,000 "U" visas available this fiscal year have been disbursed. The visas are for immigrants who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes. The government created the visas in 2000 but did not issue them until after it was sued in 2007.
More visas will be available in October. Until then, eligible immigrants will get temporary legal status to stay in the U.S.
