Iraqi police: Gunmen kill anti-al-Qaida fighter

An Iraqi police chief says gunmen killed an anti-al-Qaida fighter and members of his family in a town west of Baghdad.
Brig. Mahmoud al-Issawi says the family was sleeping early Thursday in their garden in a village near Fallujah, 40 miles (65 kilometers) west of Baghdad, when armed men broke in and gunned them down.
They killed the man, his wife, two daughters and one son. Another son was injured.
The official says that Khudr al-Issawi had fought with the government-backed Sunni militia known as the Awakening Councils against al-Qaida.
He blamed al-Qaida for the incident.
