Taipei mayor urges Hong Kong residents to visit Flora Expo

Hong Kong, June 11 (CNA) Taipei City is inviting Hong Kong residents to attend the six-month International Flora Expo that will open on Nov. 6 and to visit some of the other attractions in the city, Mayor Hau Lung-bin said Friday.
Hau, who is in Hong Kong to promote the flora expo, said visitors can expect to see new developments in horticulture and advanced green technologies at the flower show.
To date, 45 countries have confirmed their participation in the flora expo, which will be one of the biggest in the world, he said.
Two Taiwanese carriers, China Airlines and Eva Airways, have said they will offer discount fares for Hong Kong travelers to Taipei during the flower show.
Telling his audience that he feels at home whenever he is in Hong Kong, Hau said he thinks Hong Kong visitors visiting Taipei will feel the same, as the two cities have similar cultures.
Hong Kong entertainer Jaycee Chan, son of actor Jackie Chan, said at the promotional event that he would fly to Taipei just for Taiwan's famous beef noodles and that he would recommended the city to other Hong Kong residents.
