Capello a 'candidate' for Inter post

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has said he considers England coach Fabio Capello a "candidate" to succeed Jose Mourinho should the Portuguese leave the European champions.
Moratti has said he is resigned to Mourinho moving to Real Madrid in the wake of Inter's 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.
"Capello is one of the candidates and he certainly has much to offer," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport TV on Friday.
Earlier in the week, Capello removed a post-World Cup break clause from his contract and said he is only concentrating on his first World Cup as a coach.
Capello previously led Inter's rival AC Milan, coaching the club to one Champions League and four league titles.
Mourinho is expected to sign on as Madrid's coach in the next few days, having stated his desire to move to Spain's capital in the wake of the Champions League win.
Madrid will need to pay the (EURO)16 million ($19.8 million) escape clause in Mourinho's contract, but Moratti remains hopeful the double Champions League winning coach will have a change of heart.
"We want to bring the negotiations to a close," Moratti said. "I don't have any deadline for choosing a coach and who knows Mourinho could stay and then there would be no need for a new coach."
Moratti also ruled out former AS Roma coach Luciano Spalletti as an option. Spalletti is currently coach of Zenit St Petersburg.
"It would be wrong to talk about him," Moratti said. "He is excellent and like us wants to play attractive football. But he has done very well in Russia and I think he wants to stay there."
