Bangladesh was fighting back against England on the second day of the first test at Lord's, reaching 67-0 at tea after bowling England out for 505 on Friday.
Tamim Iqbal was 42 not out, and he and fellow opener Imrul Kayes, 22 not out, survived two appeals for run outs as they scored rapidly.
Shahadat Hossain took 5-98 for Bangladesh, including the wicket of Jonathan Trott, who ground his way to 226 from 349 balls, including 20 fours.
Shahadat produced a spell of 3-12 from 21 balls as England lost four quick wickets in the afternoon session.
Tim Bresnan added just one run to his score before he was caught on 25 by Junaid Siddique off Shahadat, who then had Trott caught at second slip by Imrul Kayes.
Graeme Swann made a rapid 22 before he was caught by Rubel Hossain off Shakib Al Hasan and Shahadat wrapped up the innings when he bowled James Anderson for 13.
