Former secretary-general of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Wu Nai-jen today noted that the executive capability of DPP’s candidates will be highlighted in the campaign trails for the year-end five special municipality elections, according to Liberty Times report.

“The best five candidates are all positioned for the year-end elections. The DPP has shown its resolution to win by assigning the aces in Taipei City and Xinbe, the traditional strongholds for the ruling Kuomintang (KMT),” said Wu during a campaign trail in the Tsu-Sheng Temple, Taipei City.

Wu noted that executive ability should be the primary concern in the year-end mayoral elections. Compared with the poor performance of the KMT’s local governors, DPP candidates can be trusted for years of foundation proved in many local cities, added Wu.

While asked about whether he will take over the seat of secretary-general left vacant by Su Jia-chyuan, the DPP candidate for the administratively upgraded and merged Taichung area, Wu noted that he had heard from Chairperson Tsai Ing-wen about this assignment. However, Wu said, he will take the challenge if the party needs him.
