EU probes Czech utility for blocking investigation

European Union regulators say they are investigating Czech power company J&T group for allegedly obstructing an antitrust raid on the company's offices in November 2009.
The European Commission says it will check whether J&T refused to cooperate with officials by not giving them all the e-mails and electronic documents they wanted for an investigation into possible monopoly abuse in the Czech Republic's electricity sector.
If found guilty of blocking the EU probe, the company could be fined 1 percent of its yearly turnover. German power company E.ON was fined (EURO)38 million two years ago for breaking a seal that investigators placed on one of the company's office doors during a raid to secure documents.
