Japan infielder Kawasaki eyes majors

Japanese infielder Munenori Kawasaki has expressed an interest in playing in the U.S. major leagues.
"If I don't use my free agent right in Japan, I could go to the majors next year," Kawasaki told Friday's Nikkan Sports newspaper. "You only live once so you should try various things."
Kawasaki was a teammate of Ichiro Suzuki on the Japanese team that won the World Baseball Classic in 2006 and 2009.
A shortstop with the Softbank Hawks, the 28-year-old Kawasaki is in his 11th season with the Pacific League team and has a career .297 batting average with 1,068 hits, 303 RBIs and 224 stolen bases.
