US, Japan to keep US military base in Okinawa

Washington and Tokyo have issued a joint statement outlining a new agreement on relocating a key U.S. Marine base on the Japanese island of Okinawa.
The allies agreed to move the Marine Corps Air Station Futenma to Henoko, a less crowded part of the southern island of Okinawa.
The two countries say an environmental impact assessment and construction of the replacement facility should proceed "without significant delay."
Friday's statement says moving training facilities outside of Okinawa will be considered.
