Official: Yemeni tribesmen blow up oil pipeline

Tribesmen blew up an oil pipeline in central Yemen on Thursday, security officials said, in the second attack on oil infrastructure this week in an area where a government airstrike accidentally killed a provincial councilman and two bodyguards.
Oil and security officials said the blast sparked a huge fire in the Safer area of Marib province.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
The airstrike, which took place in the Wadi Obeida area in Marib, about 107 miles (173 kilometers) south of the capital of San'a, killed provincial councilman Sheik Jabir al-Shabwani and his two bodyguards as they were driving home late Monday.
The deaths triggered clashes between tribesmen and security forces on Tuesday that left three people.
Al-Shabwani's father, Ali, denied on Wednesday that his tribe was behind the recent attacks on oil pipelines.
