Brazil unemployment rate falls to 7.3 pct in April

Brazil's government says the unemployment rate for Latin America's largest economy fell to 7.3 percent in April _ down from 7.6 percent a month earlier.
The government statistics agency known as IBGE says it's the lowest jobless rate since the government changed the way it measures unemployment in March of 2002.
Businesses are hiring workers and some complain of shortages of applicants as Brazil's economy charges ahead on strong domestic consumer demand for the nation of more than 190 million.
The IBGE released the April jobless rate on Thursday. Economists and government officials believe Brazil's economy could expand as much as 6 percent in 2010 after it contracted 0.2 percent in 2009 because of the global meltdown.
