Crusaders deny race-based recruitment claim

The Canterbury Crusaders have denied claims they have a recruitment policy which limits them to only three nonwhite players at any time in Super 14 rugby.
Andy Haden, who played 117 matches for the All Blacks, said on a television sports panel show that the seven-time champion Crusaders limited the numbers of Maori or Polynesian players as a matter of franchise policy.
Haden reiterated his claims off-air, saying the policy had contributed to Canterbury's long-standing success in the competition.
On Thursday, Crusaders chief executive Hamish Riach denied Haden's claims, describing them as "fiction."
