Japan's exports jump 40.4 percent in April

Japan says the nation's exports in April jumped 40.4 percent from a year earlier.
The finance ministry says they climbed to 5.9 trillion yen ($65 billion), marking the fifth month of year-on-year increase.
The ministry said Thursday that U.S.-bound shipments rose 34.5 percent, while exports to Asia surged 45.3 percent last month.
Japan's imports rose 24.2 percent to 5.1 trillion yen, resulting in a trade surplus of 742 billion yen in April.
