Cloud Gate 2 presents new work by three choreographers

Taipei April 21 (CNA) Three choreographers of Cloud Gate 2, a sister group of Taiwan's world famous Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, will present their latest pieces at Novel Hall in Taipei Wednesday night.
The presentation entitled "Spring Riot" will be staged in Taipei until April 25 and will later tour Hsinchu, Kaohsiung and other cities around the country.
Huang Yi, one of the young choreographers who took second place in the Cross Connection Ballet 3rd International Choreography Competition (CCBC) in Denmark earlier this month, will present "Floating Domain" based on his award-winning piece "Whisper".
"The 20-minute piece is actually a reflection of my own feelings," he said.
The piece depicts an imagined relationship between people's emotions and the space around them. When the dancers are sad, the space around them expands, but the dancers can feel themselves getting smaller and more lonely, Huang said..
Another choreographer, Cheng Tsung-lung, will present a 30-minute piece called "Crack." "It is called 'Crack', but actually I want to show cohesion, " Cheng said. "It is a search for a solution to close and seal all the cracks." The third choreographer Ku Ming-shen said her piece "Endless Shore "challenges the dancers." In addition to displaying their skills, the dancers are encouraged to transmit overtones", Ku said.
Huang and Cheng this year received support from the Lo Man Fei Dance Fund, a program that is designed to foster young talent in dance related fields.
