Turkish premier: New Iran sanctions would not work

Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to challenge France's president on sanctions against Iran and eventual Turkish membership in the European Union.
Erdogan arrives Tuesday in Paris for talks with President Nicolas Sarkozy and other French officials.
Erdogan says in an interview with the French daily Le Figaro that he doesn't think the new U.N. sanctions under consideration for Iran "would produce results."
France has helped lead the push for new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear activities. Turkey says its neighbor has the right to develop peaceful nuclear energy.
Erdogan also says he will urge Sarkozy to visit Turkey, to try to win him over to the prospect of Turkey joining the EU.
