No reports so far of Taiwanese injured in Mexico quake: official

Taipei, April 5 (CNA) There were no immediate reports of any Taiwanese casualties after a strong earthquake struck western Mexico Sunday, a foreign ministry official said Monday.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will keep in close contact with Taiwan's office in Mexico, said Joseph Kuo, head of the MOFA's Department of Central and South American Affairs.
It was a long holiday weekend in Mexico, so there was no one at the many Taiwanese firms there, Kuo added.
A 7.2 magnitude quake hit the U.S-Mexican border region of Baja California at 3: 30 p.m. Sunday (local time) and was felt in the U.S.
cities of Los Angeles, Phoenix and Las Vegas, foreign news agencies reported.
According to the reports, there has been substantial structural damage in the older section of Los Angeles but no injuries have been reported.
