Marseille beats Lens 1-0 in French league

Marseille beat Lens 1-0 in the French league on Sunday to make up ground in the title race while Boulogne's hopes of escaping relegation took a blow by only drawing 1-1 with Toulouse.
Brazilian striker Brandao outjumped the Lens defense to head in a corner from Lucho Gonzalez in the 22nd minute for Marseille's winner.
Marseille had to play the last 15 minutes with 10 men after Stephane Mbia was shown a red card for fouling Issam Jemaa while competing for the ball in the air.
Lyon beat Rennes 2-1 on Saturday to top the standings with 57 points, level with Montpellier. But Auxerre, which hosts Paris Saint-Germain later Sunday, could take the lead with a victory. Auxerre has 56 points, the same total as Bordeaux and Marseille.
In Boulogne, Olivier Kapo beat the offside trap to dribble past goalkeeper Olivier Blondel and score in the 36th minute before Norway international Daniel Braaten leveled for Toulouse with a powerful strike in the 88th.
Boulogne remain in 18th place with 24 points, eight adrift of safety.
