Shanghai mayor to visit Taipei for first time Tuesday

Taipei, April 4 (CNA) Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng will visit Taipei for the first time from April 6-9 at the head of a 200-member delegation to attend a forum on city-to-city exchanges, the Taipei City government said Sunday.
According to Han's itinerary released by the city government, Han arrives at Taipei Songshan Airport at 11 a.m. Tuesday and will attend the Taipei-Shanghai city forum the same day.
He is expected to sign four cooperation memorandums at the forum to boost cultural, travel, science park and environmental protection exchanges.
After the forum, he will visit the Taipei Municipal Zhongshan Girls High School to talk with high school students about the 2010 World Expo, which will open in Shanghai on May 1, and the Taipei International Flora Exposition. It would be the first time that a mayor of Shanghai, China's largest city, has visited Taiwan.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin led a delegation to visit Shanghai in June 2008.
The two mayors will also attend a performance by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, Han will visit the National Palace Museum, the Bei-Tou Incinerator, and the Taipei Mass Rapid Transit system. He will also visit Taiwan's landmark skyscraper Taipei 101 and the Eslite Xinyi flagship bookstore.
Han will visit Cheng Hsin General Hospital and also visit Taichung City, Taipei County and Taoyuan County on Thursday, before returning to Shanghai Friday morning.
