FC Twente beats VVV-Venlo 2-0 in Dutch league

FC Twente moved closer to clinching its first Dutch league title since 1926 with a 2-0 win over VVV-Venlo.
Blaise Nkufo, in his last season with the club before moving to MLS club Seattle Sounders FC, scored from close range in the first half. Bryan Ruiz added another goal in the 88th to give Steve McClaren's side 77 points from 30 matches.
Ajax is second with 70 points from 29 games and visits ADO The Hague on Sunday. PSV Eindhoven is third with 69 points ahead of Sunday's trip to Willem II.
After this weekend, there are four rounds left.
Twente coach Steve McClaren, whose side finished second behind AZ Alkmaar last year in the Englishman's first season in the Dutch league, warned his side could still slip up in the run-in.
"We only played well in the first half," he said. "That is not enough. If we want to stay on top, we have to play better next week."
Also Saturday, AZ beat FC Utrecht 2-0 after goals by Maarten Martens and Mounir El Hamdaoui for its sixth straight win.
Claudemir, Santi Kolk and Alexander Buttner scored to lead Vitesse Arnhem to a 3-0 win over FC Groningen and ease the side's relegation worries.
Mads Junker picked up a hat trick to help Roda JC beat RKC Waalwijk 5-1. Another loss at Vitesse Arnhem on Friday will all but confirm RKC's relegation.
Hernan Losada scored twice _ including after a 77th-minute solo run _ in SC Heerenveen's 4-1 win over Sparta Rotterdam. Gerald Sibon and Roy Beerens scored first-half goals for Heerenveen.
Sparta replied through Erik Falkenburg's goal in the 60th.
