A serious weather miscalculation pushed top Formula One teams McLaren and Ferrari to the back of the grid for Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix.
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will start 19th and 21st respectively. World champion Jenson Button is in 17th and McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton in 20th after both teams took a risk in Saturday's qualifying _ putting their faith in radar predictions of better weather.
With rain falling at the Sepang circuit as qualifying began, Ferrari and McLaren delayed going out, believing the weather would ease and track conditions improve.
Instead the rain worsened. When the drivers went out, they stood no chance of matching the times set by championship rivals Red Bull and Mercedes.
