Crystal Lily wins rich race for 2-year-olds

Crystal Lily, a Melbourne filly ridden by Hong Kong-based jockey Brett Prebble, has won the Golden Slipper, described by the Australian Jockey Club as the world's richest thoroughbred horse race for 2-year-olds.
Crystal Lily won by half a length over Decision Time, with More Strawberries third at Sydney's Rosehill. The winner made her move in the final 200 meters of the 1,200-meter race.
Owner David Moodie spent nearly $150,000 in late entry fees, but claimed $1.9 million for finishing first Saturday in the $3.3 million Slipper. He entered the race after his horse won the Sweet Embrace Stakes at Sydney's Randwick on March 13.
Crystal Lily is the offspring of 2005 Golden Slipper winner Stratum.
