Colorado signs Argentine Claudio Lopez

The Colorado Rapids have signed Argentine World Cup veteran Claudio Lopez who spent the last two seasons with Kansas City.
The club announced the signing Friday. The Rapids will add the forward to the squad once his visa is approved. He won't be available for Colorado's home opener Saturday against Chicago.
Gary Smith described the 35-year-old Lopez as a "valued asset." Lopez signed with the Wizards in March 2008, scoring 13 goals in 57 games.
Lopez has scored 10 goals for Argentina's national team and played in both the 1998 and 2002 World Cups. He also took part in the 1996 Olympics for Argentina, which captured the silver medal.
