Winless for two years, Ernie Els now has a chance to make it two wins in a row.
Els stayed strong to the end Saturday at Bay Hill with a 3-under 69 and take a one-shot lead over Ben Curtis going into the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Els is the only player to have broken 70 all three rounds this week.
Curtis had a two-shot lead until bogeyed two of the last three holes, starting with a sand wedge from 60 yards short of the par-5 16th that he knocked some 70 feet long, leading to a three-putt bogey. He shot 70.
Phil Mickelson stumbled to a 73 and was seven shots behind.
