Former gold medalist Grospiron to lead 2018 bid

Former Olympic freestyle skiing gold medalist Edgar Grospiron will lead Annecy's bid for the 2018 Winter Games.
Grospiron's appointment was announced Friday by the Annecy bid committee.
Grospiron won the first Olympic gold medal in moguls at the 1992 Games in Albertville, not far from the lakeside town of Annecy in France's Savoy region.
Grospiron also won the bronze medal in moguls at the 1994 Lillehammer Games. A three-time world champion, he retired in 1995.
The Annecy bid committee also includes former France football coach Aime Jacquet, who guided the team to the World Cup title in 1998.
Annecy is competing against Munich and the South Korean resort of Pyeongchang. The host city will be chosen by the IOC in 2011.
