UN nuclear chief hopes for Iran nuclear accord

The U.N. nuclear agency's new chief says he hopes an agreement will be reached with Iran on an international proposal to export most of the material the country would need to make nuclear weapons.
Yukia Amano said Iran's nuclear program was the "number one issue" for the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Amano provided no details on talks with Iran on the plan, which would have the Islamic republic ship out most of its stock of enriched uranium and then wait for up to a year for it to return as fuel rods for its Tehran research reactor.
Iran insists its nuclear program is purely peaceful and aims to produce atomic energy.
Amano spoke Friday on a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
