MOFA says seven stranded Taiwan tourists are safe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday said that the remaining seven Taiwanese tourists were evacuated safely from Machu Picchu, closed due to heavy rains, floods and mudslides.
Earlier this week, twenty-two Taiwanese tourists including a tour group of twenty people and two solo travelers were stranded on Machu Picchu, ancient mountain city of the Incas and a major tourist attraction in the Peruvian highlands northwest of Cuzco. With the help of the Peruvian government and Taiwan's Representative Office in Peru, twenty people had been safely brought to Lima or Cusco on Jan 28. And the rest were also evacuated from the disaster zone yesterday.
