Wolfsburg signs Brazilian defender Rever

Struggling Bundesliga champion Wolfsburg has signed Brazilian defender Rever from Brazilian club Gremio.
Rever received a contract until 2014 in a deal worth (EURO)5 million ($7 million), Wolfsburg said Friday.
At the same time, Wolfsburg released Portuguese defender Ricardo Costa, who moved to Lille in France.
Rever will not be in action for another three weeks because of a hand fracture.
Wolfsburg has dropped to 10th place in the Bundesliga and has not won in nine games. It fired coach Armin Veh earlier this week, leaving reserve team coach Lorenz-Guenther Koestner in charge.
