Nigeria coach promises his players will improve

Under fire coach Shaibu Amodu hopes he will still be in charge to lead Nigeria at the World Cup in June despite his team's 1-0 defeat to Ghana in an African Cup of Nations semifinal.
Amodu, who has been under pressure since the beginning of the tournament earlier this month, admitted Thursday his players "didn't play at their best" in Angola but promised "they will improve if I stay in charge."
Amodu is under contract with the Nigeria federation until August. There was speculation he could be fired before the World Cup if the Super Eagles hadn't reach the semifinals of the tournament.
